Day
in a dog's life :
This
lonely stray dog was found in front of a furniture shop in March 2006.
She was very shy and would not take food from the hand. A young man
came to her sleeping place every evening to give her food by leaving
it in a bowl. We never actually met him, but arranged to treat the dog
by asking the shopkeeper to arrange for the man to mix our medicine
in the food that he supplied.
With patience, she is now, after 3 months, suffering less and looking
more hopeful in her eyes. We now want her to be sterilized, but the
location in which she is found is in a very open area, with little chance
of catching her, and there is a danger that she might run out into the
busy street and get run over.
We are finding a way to catch and sterilize her. We also appreciate
the man who brings the dog food every day. He is an example of kindness
anyone can follow if we care for the living creatures that share the
planet with us.

"My name is Maggy and I was rescued together with 34 other dogs
from a meat transport truck. Our destination was a slaughter house -
can you imagine that? In the north and northeast of Thailand, there
are still villages where dog meat is eaten. Most of us were in terrible
condition, as you can see in the photo.
Lanna
Dog Rescue's team found a place, where we could stay temporarily. Through
medical help and loving care, our conditions improved slowly. It was
not easy to find new adoptive families for us, but finally all dogs
received a new home. I managed to stay within Lanna Dog Rescue's team,
as my new owner Roshan couldn't resist my charm. Sometimes I'm quite
proud to join their fundraising activities in the city. My condition
has improved a lot - don't I look like I could already join a beauty
contest?"

"I'm Miaw and I was brought to Lanna Dog Rescue after one of my
two kittens was still-born two days earlier. The other one was stuck
inside my womb and I had a lot of pain. They brought me to the vet,
who said that my body temperature was already very low and that my chances
of survival were only 50/50. Dr. Nuk removed my second dead kitten in
an operation and sterilised me at the same time. After the operation,
I improved slowly and now I'm already walking around and my appetite
is increasing. It's wonderful to have my life back."

"Hi,
I'm Lucky (left), besides me you see my sister Daeng and in the photo
underneath, our friend Dam. We live in Sarapee now, near Chiang Mai.
We were born in the temple Wat Don Chan and were looking for a new loving
home, as more than 50 dogs already live there.

Our new owner, Alex, had originally planned to adopt only
one dog. But he fell in love with the three of us - and now our whole
gang stays with him. In the beginning, we were a bit shy, but now we
play and run around quite actively in his big garden and enjoy our new
home very much."

"Quite
discriminating, the name "Lanna Dog Rescue". What about us
piglets and pigs??? OK, I know, this team mostly concentrates on stray
dogs in need, but as they recently saw a wound on my back, they brought
me, Babe, also to their vet and I received medical care, and I'm now
quite well. Sometimes I'm a bit jealous, when I see how the dogs getting
their food - I'm suspicious that their food might be better than mine...."
