Dogs are friends not food ! สุนัขเป็นเพื่อนไม่ใช่อาหาร !
While it has been difficult to have a cruelty and animal welfare bill passed by parliament, news of the dog meat trade in Nakhon Phanom province has upset the country and stimulated the people into taking some form of action.

In the meantime, positive reactions from past efforts have taken place as follows:
1. TSPCA has announced by a statement on 21.9.11 that the cruelty and animal welfare bill has been put before parliament for its meeting no. 43 of agenda 95.

2. The Nakhon Phanom Provincial Court sentenced five members of a dog-smuggling gang to eight months and 10 days in prison, each and fines ranging from Bt12,000 to Bt22,400, before halving the punishments because of their confessions.
3. In China, the annual Dog Meat Festival was canceled, which possibly signals an end to this 6-century-old tradition of dog eating. It will be interesting to monitor this situation in the future, i.e. will there be a Dog Meat Festival next year?

Following parliament’s acceptance of a cruelty and animal welfare bill hearing, which has been achieved for the first time in Thailand, every encouragement should be given in following up on past events and working as a network to achieve success in future ones, especially by giving moral support to the people involved in Nakorn Panom.
ในขณะที่มีความพยายามผลักดันให้มีกฏหมาย พรบ ป้องกันการทารุณกรรมสัตว์เข้าสู่สภามาอย่างยาวนาน ข่าวคราวเกี่ยวกับธุรกิจการค้าเนื้อสุนัขข้ามชาติที่นครพนมสร้างความสะเทือนใจและชื่อเสียงของประเทศไทยเป็นอย่างมาก จนทำให้ผู้คนเครือข่ายต่างๆต้องออกมาเรียกร้องให้มีมาตรการใดเกิดขึ้น
ท่ามกลางข่าวสะเทือนใจสะเทือนชื่อเสียงของประเทศไทย ก็มีข่าวดีดังต่อไปนี้
1. สมาคมป้องกันทารุณกรรมสัตว์แห่งประเทศไทยได้ออกแถลงการณ์เมื่อวันที่ 20.9.2554 พรบ ป้องกันการทารุณกรรมและส่งเสริมสวัสดิภาพสัตว์ได้ถูกบรรจุเข้าในการประชุมสภา ลำดับที่ 43 ของ 95 การประชุม

2. คดีค้าสุนัขข้ามชาติ พิพากษาแล้ว! ศาลจังหวัดนครพนม ได้พิพากษาจำคุกผู้ต้องหาลักลอบค้าสุนัข 5 คน จำคุกคนละ 8 เดือน 10 วัน ไม่รอลงอาญา พร้อมปรับและอายัดของกลาง แต่ทางผู้ต้องหารับสารภาพ ทางศาลจึงลดโทษให้กึ่งหนึ่งเหลือ แค่ 4 เดือน 5 วันพร้อมปรับเงินรวมกว่า 40,000 บาท โดยยังคงให้สุนัขทั้งหมดอยู่ในความดูแลของด่านกักกันสัตว์นครพนมต่อไป

3. จีน ยกเลิก เทศกาลกินเนื้อหมาประจำปี ซึ่งมีมานานกว่า 600 ปี ที่จินหัวที่มณฑลเจ้อเจียง ประเทศจีน หลังจากผู้ใช้อินเตอร์เน็ต พากันส่งต่อข้อความผ่านเว็บไซต์โซเชียลเน็ตเวิร์คเว็บ เพื่อประณามเทศกาลดังกล่าว ซึ่งมีคนนับ ล้านคนส่งต่อข้อความกันเป็นระยะเวลาหลายวัน เป็นเรื่องที่จะต้องติดตามต่อไปว่า จะยกเลิกได้ตลอดไปหรือไม่

พรบ ป้องกันการทารุณกรรมและส่งเสริมสวัสดิภาพสัตว์ได้ถูกบรรจุเข้าในการประชุมสภา ซึ่งจะเป็นกฏหมายเกี่ยวกับสัตว์ครั้งแรกในประเทศไทย พวกเราคนต้องคอยติดตามอย่างใกล้ชิดและสร้างเครือข่ายความร่วมมือสนับสนุน โดยเฉพาะให้กำลังใจแก่หน่วยราชการทุกภาคส่วนที่เกี่ยวข้องในนครพนม ถือเป็นความก้าวหน้าไปอีกขั้นหนึ่ง

The Cup Final and the League Championship, season 1/11
The Cup Final between Blue Sky Bar and The Wall, was held at Blue Sky Bar on 24 June 2011.
The Blue Sky Bar won the match becoming the League Cup Champions.
After the match, prizes were awarded by Bob (League Referee) and Herman (League Chairman), for both the Cup Final and the League Championship, season 1/11.
2,600 Baht was raised in donations on the night, with a further 4,000 Baht donated directly from the League funds.

ซึ่งสนับสนุนล้านนาด็อกมานานตั้งแต่เริ่มก่อตั้งและเคยบริจาคทำหมันสุนัขจรจัด 100 ตัว คราวนี้บินมาเชียงใหม่อีกรอบ และถือโอกาสถ่ายภาพทำหมันภาคสนามสุนัขและแมวที่วัดสวนดอก เมื่อวันเสาร์ที่ 3 กันยายนที่ผ่านมา ท่ามกลางความวุ่นวาย วันนั้นทำหมันไป 48 ตัว และฉีดวัคซีนป้องโรคพิษสุนัขบ้าอีกกว่า 30 ตัว ทั้งคู่จะบินมาถ่ายอีกในเดือนพฤศจิกายนปลายปีนี้

Art for dogs ศิลปะสู่เพื่อนสี่ขา
น้ำใจไม่มีพรมเเดน แม้อยูห่างไกลถึง Seatle อเมริกา ทั้งโมนิก้าและจอห์นก็ยังช่วยกันจัดงานสลากการกุศลและศิลปะเพื่อช่วยสุนัขในกิจกรรมของล้านนาด็อกในประเทศไทย เมื่อวันที่ 21 สิงหาคม 2554 ที่ผ่านมา
เพื่อนๆชาวอเมริกัน ร่วมกันอุดหนุนซื้อสินค้าของล้านนาด็อก จับฉลาก รวมทั้งรูปภาพจากศิลปินที่ขายและมอบรายได้ครึ่งหนึ่งให้ งานนี้ได้รับเงินการกุศลทั้งสิ้น 1750 ดอลล่าร์

Lanna Dog Fundraiser event was held in Seattle, USA on August 21st, 2011 at Pazzo’s on Eastlake restaurant. The event consisted of and art opening of artists showing their two dimensional work portraying dogs and cats. 50% of all art sold was donated to Lanna Dog.
There was a raffle with lots of prizes to win. The prizes included:
Dinner for Thai restaurants x2, Dinner to an Ethiopian restaurant, Three acupuncture sessions, Hote Yoga sessions, Dogie spa day at a local fancy dog shop, Dogie training books, Estrea skin care products from Hungary x2, Indonesian salad spoon set, Two movie tickets, Lanna Dog food and gift baskets.
All the prizes were donated by local businesses except by a few, donated by Monika Boros. The raffle tickets were sold for: one for $4 or three for $10 two months prior to the event and the night of the show. Janice Buttler and Jane Nyhus helped with the pre-sales of the raffle tickets prior to the show.
During the event was selling of Thai exotics ex: Thai silk scarfs, fisherman pants and Lanna Dog items by Monika and Janice, volunteers.
The whole event including sales of raffle tickets and Thai items; the selling of one painting and donations raised $1750 over a period of 2 months.

A wonderful Tod Pa Pah อนุโมทนาบุญทอดผ้าป่า
It was a very successful day with good cool weather. Good karma; as it rained just after the ceremony finished.
We received 296,397.50 Baht from the Tod Pa Pah ceremony.
We highly appreciate the Supreme Sunga of Hang Dong sub-district, Prakru Artorn and 8 Abbots from the temples in Hang Dong, who came to this ceremony as a token of compassion and encouragement for Lanna Dog work. It was a great honour to receive them.
Special thanks go to Dr.Satwat-PlaiAuw’s family and Khun Suradej and Khun Jittra’s familรำห for their donations of 100,000 baht and assistance, which made this ceremony possible.
It was very pleased to receive huge donations (coins and small bank notes) from local people.

Without Pee and his wife this ceremony could not be performed
Lanna Dog has reported its sterilization and training programs and seminars carried out since the beginning of the project and that to come in the future
At the end of the ceremony, the Abbots gave blessings and made merit to Roshan.

สุนัขอายุไม่ถึงหนึ่งปี สีดำ ขนาดกลาง เชื่อง ดิฉันจับทำหมันและฉีดยาป้องกันโรคพิษสุนัขบ้าหมดทุกตัวแล้วค่ะ

ตอนนี้พวกเค้าอาศัยอยู่ในโครงการบ้านจัดสรรที่กำลังก่อสร้าง คงจะแล้วเสร็จอีกไม่นาน

Friendly Soi dogs need home soon. They are sterilized and rabies vaccinated. They will be removed from the Soi Orn Nut 36 to a Bangkok metropolitan shelter. Give them a life !!

he is a 3 month old male, He arrived at my home in Ban Pa Lan Sansai four days ago in some distress, since then i have had him cleaned, and a visit to the local vet for injections and treatment for flea and tick infestation, rabies injection and medication for body wounds due to him constantly scratching.
He is now getting more relaxed and is able to get his sleep and has a lot more energy, unfortunately for me, now he wont let me rest, 55555.
As I am unable to care for him long term, so if you know of such a place please advise me,

Lanna Dog is going to hold a Tod Pa Pah ceremony on Sunday 10th July, 2011 at our Lanna Dog Center. The aim of the Tod Pa Pah is to raise funds in Memory of Roshan, a Lanna Dog founder member, to continue her intention to promote Animal Welfare activities.
Tod Pa Pah is a Thai Traditional culture, which is performed in order to make merit, especially to the temple. Temples in Thailand have been connected closely with the community, which will prepare a donation tree for the temple to use for temple purposes.
Lanna Dog has many activities, especially regarding humane dog population control with cooperation from communities and local governments. We have field sterilization sessions in different communities. We need the community to work together with us to share our responsibilities and ensure the project’s sustainability.
Tod Pa Pah ceremony will be held in collaboration with the local community, government sector, village leaders, monks and friends of Lanna Dog, etc., and held at Lanna Dog Center. Any donations for this ceremony will be most appreciated.

Despite misty weather, it was a nice day. Only 13 dogs and cats were sterilized, but everybody was happy including the Mhong villagers. This was the first time they received this service. How nice it was to have photographs of them with their pets, and the Pet ID will be brought to them later. The animals in the village were well looked after and healthy compared to urban pets. More animals would have been brought for sterilization if this event was advertised better. Many of the villagers and animals work on the farms and in the forest. Well, 2 pigs, each weighing 60 Kgs were sterilized at home because the little girl owner could not carry them to us. This time we had more vets and volunteers than animals.
